ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility

Preferred EMS is committed to making PreferredEMS.com easier to use for as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technologies or alternative input methods.

Last Updated:

1. Our Approach

Accessibility is considered in the design, structure, and ongoing operation of PreferredEMS.com. Preferred EMS works to improve usability across desktop and mobile experiences so that visitors can find information and request transport services regardless of how they access the web.

We do not claim that this website is fully compliant with any specific accessibility standard or that it is free of all accessibility barriers. We continue to review and address issues as they are identified.

2. Accessibility Features

The following accessibility features have been implemented on PreferredEMS.com:

  • Skip to main content link — allows keyboard and screen-reader users to bypass repeated navigation and jump directly to the page content.
  • Semantic page landmarks and headings — pages use appropriate HTML landmark elements and a logical heading hierarchy to aid navigation.
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation — the main navigation, Services dropdown, and mobile menu can be operated by keyboard.
  • Escape-key support — pressing Escape closes the desktop Services dropdown and the mobile navigation menu, returning focus to the control that opened them.
  • Visible keyboard focus indicators — interactive elements display a visible focus ring when navigated by keyboard.
  • Programmatically associated form labels — each form field on the Request Transport form has a visible label that is programmatically linked to its input.
  • Accessible form error messaging — validation errors are linked to their respective fields using aria-describedby so screen readers can associate the error with the field.
  • Screen-reader announcements for form submission states — success and error states after form submission are announced to assistive technologies using ARIA live regions.
  • Accessible cookie-consent region — the cookie consent notice uses a landmark role, accessible label, and a live region announcement when it appears.
  • Descriptive accessible labels — phone numbers, email addresses, WhatsApp links, and other interactive elements include descriptive accessible names where appropriate.
  • Semantic footer headings — footer column headings are marked up as heading elements rather than styled text.
  • Improved footer text contrast — footer link and legal text uses design-system color tokens at full opacity to maintain readable contrast.
  • Reduced-motion support — non-essential animations and transitions are suppressed when the visitor's operating system or browser is set to prefer reduced motion.
  • Decorative icons hidden from assistive technology — icons that are purely decorative are marked with aria-hidden so screen readers skip them.
  • Page titles and language metadata — each page has a descriptive title and the document language is declared in the HTML.

3. Keyboard Navigation

Major navigation and interactive controls on PreferredEMS.com can be reached and operated by keyboard. Users can press Tab to move forward through focusable elements and Shift+Tab to move backward. Enter or Space can be used to activate buttons and links where appropriate.

Pressing Escape will close the desktop Services dropdown or the mobile navigation menu and return focus to the control that opened it. A Skip to Main Content link appears at the top of each page when focused by keyboard, allowing users to bypass the navigation and jump directly to the page content.

We do not guarantee full keyboard support across every browser and assistive-technology combination, but we work to address keyboard barriers as they are identified.

4. Forms

The Request Transport form is designed to be usable with assistive technologies. Each field has a visible label that is programmatically associated with its input. Required fields and invalid fields are indicated both visually and in a way that can be read by screen readers.

When a field contains an error, the error message is linked to the field using aria-describedby so that screen readers can announce the error in context. After the form is submitted, the success or error state is announced to assistive technologies through an ARIA live region.

5. Motion and Visual Presentation

PreferredEMS.com supports the prefers-reduced-motion media query. When a visitor's device or browser is configured to reduce motion, non-essential animations and transitions on the site are suppressed or shortened.

The site uses readable typography, a clear visual hierarchy, and high-contrast interface elements where possible. We do not claim that every color combination on the site has been formally tested against a specific contrast ratio target, and we continue to review visual presentation as the site evolves.

6. Third-Party Services

PreferredEMS.com links to or integrates with services operated by third parties, including CardPointe for online bill payment and WhatsApp for messaging. The accessibility of those services is controlled by their respective providers, and Preferred EMS cannot make accessibility representations on their behalf.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on a third-party service linked from this site, please contact that provider directly.

7. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process. PreferredEMS.com may be reviewed and updated over time as content, technology, and user needs evolve. We welcome feedback that helps us identify and address barriers.

8. Feedback or Accessibility Assistance

If you encounter difficulty accessing information or using a feature on PreferredEMS.com, please contact Preferred EMS so we can assist you and review the issue.
