What Is BLS Ambulance Transport?
Basic Life Support (BLS) is one of the ambulance transport service levels coordinated by Preferred EMS. Patients, families, and referring healthcare teams can identify BLS as the requested service level.
BLS transport requests are coordinated directly with sending and receiving facilities to support continuity throughout the transport.
BLS is distinct from Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) transportation. Preferred EMS dispatch confirms the requested service level and transport details through the appropriate operational process; this public website does not make a clinical determination.
When BLS Transport Is Requested
