MICU transports are coordinated with the referring healthcare team and Preferred EMS dispatch to support appropriate patient movement.
MICU transport may be appropriate when a patient's transport needs require a higher level of clinical support during transit. The appropriate level of transport should be based on the patient's needs and coordinated with the referring healthcare team and Preferred EMS dispatch.
MICU represents the highest level of transport within the Preferred EMS service spectrum. Preferred EMS also offers BLS and ALS transport, and our dispatch team works with referring healthcare providers to help identify the level of service that fits each patient's transport requirements.
When MICU Transport May Be Appropriate
